ADULT: Wingspan 25-38mm. A rather pretty moth with a yellowish-straw ground colour to the forewings broken by two pale brown gently curving crosslines. The hindwings are whitish with a grey line running across each. CHRYSALIS: Pupates in a loose cocoon amongst leaves. LARVA: Overwinters in this stage. BEHAVIOUR: Attracted to light. HABITAT: Coastal grassy heaths, shingle beaches, dry grassy areas and saltmarsh. FLIGHT PERIOD: Two generations. May to June and August to September. STATUS: Locally common in southern Britain. |
